Privacy Policy

Keepen is a memory for the people you love, and the short version of this policy is the promise the app is built on: what you write never leaves your iPhone. There is no account, no sync and no server holding your board. We couldn’t read your notes if we wanted to, because they are never sent to us.

The rest of this page explains the few things that do involve a network, and covers both the Keepen app for iPhone and this website.

Your board stays on your iPhone

Everything you put into Keepen — people, their stickers, facts, lists, notes, events, your own name and sticker — is stored in the app’s private storage on your iPhone. It is not uploaded, not synced, and not visible to us or to anyone else. Deleting the app deletes the board with it.

If you back up your iPhone (to iCloud or to a computer), the app’s storage is included in that backup the way every app’s is. That backup belongs to your Apple Account and is handled by Apple; we have no access to it.

What we never do

• No analytics or tracking of what you write, or of how you use the app.
• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No selling, renting or sharing of personal data — there is nothing on our side to sell.
• No account, so there is no profile of you to build.

Contacts

To add people from your address book, Keepen opens the standard iOS contact picker. The picker runs outside the app: Keepen never gets access to your address book, only to the contacts you select, and it copies their name, birthday and photo onto your board on the device. Nothing is transmitted, and the app never writes to your contacts.

Camera and photos

To give someone a sticker you can take a photo or choose one. The photo picker only hands Keepen the photo you pick, and the camera is only used while you take one. The cut-out is made on your iPhone by Apple’s Vision framework; the finished sticker is saved in the app’s storage, and the photo is never uploaded.

Microphone and speech

You can speak a question to the helper instead of typing it. Your voice is transcribed as you talk by Apple’s on-device speech recognition; no recording is saved and no audio leaves the iPhone. iOS may download the speech model for your language from Apple the first time — an ordinary system download that carries nothing from Keepen. Microphone access is only requested if you use this feature.

The helper runs on your iPhone

Keepen Pro’s helper and quick notes use Apple Intelligence through Apple’s Foundation Models framework, which runs the model on your iPhone. Your notes are passed to that on-device model and nowhere else: they are not sent to Apple, to us, or to any cloud AI service, and there is no cloud fallback.

Reminders

Reminders about birthdays and plans are scheduled as local notifications by iOS on your iPhone. Their wording is composed on the device, and the dates behind them are never uploaded. Keepen does not use a push notification service.

Keepen Pro purchases

Keepen Pro is the one part of the app that isn’t purely local, because a purchase can’t be. Payment is handled by the App Store under your Apple Account — we never see your card or billing details. To know whether Pro is unlocked, the app uses RevenueCat, which processes the App Store receipt under an anonymous identifier and answers with yes or no. What crosses the network is a receipt and that answer, along with basic technical details such as the app version and your device’s country; your board is never attached to it. RevenueCat’s practices are described in their privacy policy.

This website

The website runs no analytics, sets no tracking cookies and asks you for nothing. Before Keepen launched it kept a waitlist: if you joined it, the email address you gave us (and which form on the page it came from) is stored with Resend, our email provider, and used for one thing — telling you Keepen is out. You can have your address removed at any time: use the unsubscribe link in anything we send, or just ask.

Deleting your data

• Your board: it’s on your iPhone, so it’s yours to delete — remove people in the app, use Reset Everything on the You tab, or delete the app.
• Waitlist email (if you joined before launch): ask us and it’s gone, or unsubscribe from the email.
• Purchase records: kept by the App Store under your Apple Account.

Children

Keepen is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them — which is made easier by the fact that we collect almost none from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top. A change that weakened the promise above — that your board stays on your iPhone — would be a different app, not a policy update; we have no plans for one.
